Norman A. Murdock
Of Counsel The Firm is honored to have Norman Murdock as Of Counsel to the Firm. Mr. Murdock's broad and extensive experience in public and private life is an invaluable resource to the Firm. Mr. Murdock has earned the highest Peer Review Rating of AV for professional excellence from Martindale-Hubbell in recognition of his high level of legal skills, ethical standards and integrity. Graduating with High Honors in 1955 from Xavier University, Norm majored in Political Science and minored in both Economics and Philosophy. He is a Distinguished Military Graduate of the ROTC program, and served six months active duty with the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant and served 7 and 1/2 years reserve duty, after which he was discharged from the U.S. Army Reserves as a Captain. From 1959 to 1968, Norm was also a self-employed and licensed public accountant, and he earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1968. Norm has dedicated his career to public service, having been elected to all three branches of state government. He was both an elected Judge and a Visiting Judge on the Court of Common Pleas for Hamilton County. Norm was elected to 3 four-year terms as a Hamilton County Commissioner and served as President of the Board. Norm was also elected to 6 two-year terms to the Ohio House of Representatives, where he was the number two ranking Republican and Assistant Minority Leader for six years. During his twelve years of service in the Ohio House, Norm was chief sponsor of 35 bills that became law and co-sponsored another 170 bills that were passed. He was Chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee and the House Health, Education & Welfare Committee where Norm was responsible for state funding of programs and state agencies that exceeded 90 percent of Ohio's General Fund budget; Vice Chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee; and Chair of the House Subcommittee on Campus Unrest (following Kent State). Norm presently serves as Law Director of Columbia Township, Hamilton County and was appointed Special Counsel to the State of Ohio by then Ohio Attorney General Betty Montgomery in the case against the Tobacco industry. |
